about 'udder'
Conceived in the playful 90's, 'udder' is the alias of the talented artist/designer Fliss Dodd. Gaining recognition on the local scene for her sculptural and functional ceramics, it was not until the birth of her first child that Fliss turned her hand to making soft toys and has not looked back.
Now we see udder making fresh changes. Relocating to Bali, a decision that enables Fliss to spend more time designing without compromising the integrity of her business, she has established relationships with small scale boutique manufacturers who are helping to create new lines of udder goodness.
Firstly we see the continuation of the udder handmade friends which is now produced by the professional experience of "P.T. Simple Production". With this relationship, we are able to recycle the exclusive fabrics created by Italian designers which are printed utilizing traditional Indonesian antique techniques - processes such as Batik, Tie and Dye, Shibori, Silk Screens with a manual brushing and airbrush. These ancient technical techniques mean the finished fabric is unique and original, a quality which in a world of mass automated production is becoming rare and a quality which udder strives to maintain. At the same time, these garment artists are preserving their unique value crafts and a revival of this art is conceived through new applications, utilizing the fabric for a contemporary need.

We ensure each udder creation is made ethically and responsibly with a conscious approach to production in Asia. As well, udder is putting back into the Bali community by supporting YKPA, an Indonesian non-profit organisation committed to helping the street kids of Bali by providing shelter, education and basic needs. Every child deserves a home and the mammoth task YKPA undertakes to ensure this is a reality is inspiring. It is a pleasure for us to support such a project.
